Invisalign^® Teen

Invisalign clear aligners have been available for adult orthodontic treatment for over 10 years. Until recently, they are now avaible for teen orthodontic care. Some of the reasons why Invisalign was not recommended for teens were: Orthodontic specialists found that teens would not always wear them for the recommended 22 hours per day. Another was that some teens have all their permanent teeth. Invisalign did not address that problem.

Today, Invisalign Teen has addressed those problems and have been resolved! The first problem was addressing compliance of wearing aligners. This problem was resolved “compliance indicators” located right on the aligners themselves. These colored dots fade over time as the aligners are worn in the mouth, revealing whether your teen wore their aligners as directed. To solve the second problem, Invisalign developed aligners with “eruption tabs”. These tabs were designed to hold space for teeth that have not yet fully erupted.
